Council Lends Support to Borough Wide Promotion of Home Insulation Scheme
Colchester Borough Council’s (CBC) Warm Home’s project is highlighting a scheme being promoted by Aran Energy Services to offer all Colchester residents free or heavily discounted loft and/or cavity wall insulation. A letter from CBC and Aran Energy Services will soon be going to every home in the borough to highlight the scheme.
CBC’s Warm Homes Project has duties within the Environmental Sustainability Strategy (ESS) and the Home Energy Conservation Act (HECA) report. These duties include reducing fuel poverty; supporting local communities and helping them to become resilient to climate change and increasing the number of warmer, greener homes.
Aran Energy Services works with and supports a number of Local Authorities and communities across the UK. They specialise in providing home energy improvement upgrades and new installations. They have access to Energy Company Obligation (ECO) grant funding.
Cllr Tina Bourne, Portfolio Holder for Housing and Public Protection said ‘Fuel poverty can be a real problem and we have a duty to support and signpost our residents towards initiatives that can help keep their energy bills down and their homes more sustainable. This kind of partnership work is vital in raising awareness and enabling residents to make secure and educated choices when it comes to keeping their homes sustainable’.
The
borough wide mailing will go out in two phases in the weeks commencing on the 3rd and 10th of
October. The mailing will explain the scheme and offer a free home energy
assessment. The cost of the mailing is being covered by Aran Energy Services.
