Big savings for small changes, Anglia news reports…

According to the recent Anglia News report energy costs are up by 50% in 5 years. Already half a million homes in East Anglia are in fuel poverty and the average duel fuel bill stands at £1,335 pounds a year. With tighter budgets and the last 3 winters at its coldest there are fears of more people falling into fuel poverty. EDF are the last out of the main six energy suppliers to announce their energy price increase of 4% for electricity and 16% for gas.

Aran Services recently appeared on Anglia News installing cavity wall insulation on a property in Norwich. The news story was aimed to show people easy costs effective steps into lowering their energy bills. Such key advice was given.

Insulate your property
A surprising 60% of heat can escape through un-insulated walls and roofs. Fully insulating your property with loft and cavity wall insulation could save you up to £310 a year off your heating bill.
The installed work generally pays for its self within a year. Insulation grants are available to all.
Not all properties have cavity walls but can be insulated externally with solid wall insulation and save around £475 a year. Grants are also available; please get in touch for further information.

Quick fixes
Little changes can make a big difference. Just turning down the heat by 1C could cut heating bills by almost 10 per cent, or around £55 per year. Remember after your property has been insulated turn down your thermo stat!

Renewable Energy
To future proof the rising costs of electricity invest in the long run with solar panels. You may wish to consider installing solar panels on your roof to save and generate around £1,000 per year under the government led 25 year Feed inTariff scheme.
